About

Madrone Group Camp provides an ideal setting for large gatherings at Samuel P. Taylor State Park, located 15 miles west of San Rafael on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. The campground accommodates up to 50 people in a natural setting beneath the grassy slopes of Mount Barnabe, surrounded by bay, oak, madrone, and redwood trees. The group site features picnic tables, fire rings, and barbecue grills (charcoal only). A restroom building with coin-operated hot showers is a short walk from the camping area, and water spigots are available on site. The park operates year-round from 8 AM to sunset. The adjacent Madrone Cabins area includes four rustic cabins, each 12x20 square feet with electric outlets, lighting, wood flooring, a covered porch, a small electric heater, and four platform bunk beds. Two cabins (#4 and #5) are ADA accessible, and the area is served by an accessible restroom and shower facility. Note that pets are not permitted in or around the cabins, and hammocks or clotheslines may not be hung from trees.
