About

Frank Valley Horse Camp is a group equestrian campground nestled in the coastal hills of Mount Tamalpais State Park, offering horseback riders a base to explore the area's extensive trail network. The primitive tent-only site accommodates groups of 9 to 25 people with a minimum of 2 and maximum of 12 horses, plus parking for up to 10 vehicles. The campground provides essential equestrian amenities including 12 pipe corrals for securing horses, water faucets with potable drinking water, and horse watering troughs. Camper facilities include picnic tables, fire rings for campfires when conditions permit, and pit toilets. The site has accessible campsites and van parking. Located approximately 1.5 miles west of Muir Woods National Monument on Muir Woods Road, the camp sits in the lower mountain area of Mount Tamalpais State Park. From here, equestrians can access trails leading through old-growth redwood groves, grasslands, and chaparral with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay.
