Frank Valley Group Horse Camp is a dedicated equestrian camping facility within Mount Tamalpais State Park, situated on Muir Woods Road approximately one mile north of Highway 1 at Muir Beach. This group horse camp provides essential amenities for equestrians including 12 pipe corrals, multiple water faucets, horse watering troughs, picnic tables, fire rings, and pit toilets. The campground offers accessible campsites and parking for visitors with disabilities. The camp accommodates groups with a minimum of 2 horses and a maximum of 12 horses. From this location, horseback riders have access to park fire roads and designated multi-use trails throughout Mount Tamalpais State Park, connecting to the larger 200-mile trail network on neighboring public lands. Riders can explore trails including Coast View, Redwood Creek, Heather Cutoff, Miwok, and Dias Spur and Dias Ridge. The campground is located approximately 1.5 miles west of Muir Woods National Monument, offering proximity to the park's famous coastal redwood groves and spectacular Pacific Ocean views. Reservations are required and can be made up to six months in advance through Reserve California.
