Open — The campground is currently open for reservations. Due to high winds and recent rainfall, temporary closures may occur to protect visitors from treefall and landslides. Creek access is closed December 1 through June 15 annually to protect salmon spawning. Bill's Trail is closed for the rainy season. The dump station is out of service indefinitely.

Samuel P. Taylor Creekside Campground sits in a shady redwood canyon along Lagunitas Creek in the historic Camp Taylor area of Samuel P. Taylor State Park. Dating back to the 1800s, this established campground offers family sites nestled among towering redwoods with convenient access to park amenities and trails. The campground is part of the larger Camp Taylor historic area, which includes both the Creekside and Orchard Hill loops. The park's 2,882 acres offer diverse landscapes ranging from shady creek-side groves to oak-studded grasslands and rolling hills. Campers can explore easy-to-moderate hiking trails, including routes to Barnabe Peak for panoramic views of Marin County. The partially paved Cross Marin Trail runs through the park, popular with cyclists and families for strolls along the creek. During spawning season (outside the December 1 to June 15 closure period), visitors can observe coho salmon and steelhead trout, both federally threatened species. The campground provides flush restrooms, hot showers, and drinking water. Several sites are ADA-accessible, including sites 15, 21, 30, 37, 39, and 58. The park is located just 15 miles west of San Rafael on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, with Point Reyes National Seashore nearby for additional exploration opportunities.
