About
Alice Eastwood Group Camp sits along Panoramic Highway near Mountain Home Inn in Mount Tamalpais State Park, just north of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. The facility offers two dedicated group campsites: Site A accommodates up to 50 people maximum, while Site B serves groups of up to 25 people. Both tent-only sites feature picnic tables, flush toilets, water faucets with sinks, barbecue grills, and spacious tent areas. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring Mount Tamalpais State Park's 6,300 acres of redwood forests, oak woodlands, and chaparral-covered hillsides. The park's peak rises to 2,571 feet and offers spectacular views of the Farallon Islands, San Francisco Bay, and on clear days, the distant Sierra Nevada. The surrounding area features extensive hiking and biking opportunities on fire roads, with trailheads accessible from the campground area. Mount Tamalpais holds deep cultural significance, named from the Miwok word Tamalpais. The park preserves both natural beauty and historical sites including the Mountain Theater and remnants of the famous Crookedest Railroad in the World. Dogs are only permitted in developed areas and on specific trails including paved roads and Old Stage Fire Road, but are not allowed on backcountry trails. The park is open year-round from 7:00 a.m. to sunset.
