About

Located within the 2,882-acre Samuel P. Taylor State Park in Marin County, the Group Picnic Areas provide a scenic setting for gatherings in the shade of towering coast redwoods along Lagunitas Creek. The park sits 15 miles west of San Rafael on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, making it accessible for Bay Area visitors seeking a natural retreat. Two reservable group picnic sites are available: Redwood Grove, which accommodates up to 80 people, and Irving, which holds up to 30. Each site is equipped with picnic tables and barbecue grills, with piped drinking water and restrooms located nearby. Accessible parking is available at the Redwood Grove area. These are day-use facilities only with no overnight camping. The park is open from 8am to sunset year-round. Creek access is closed from December 1 through June 15 annually to protect spawning salmon.
