About

Steep Ravine Environmental Campground is one of California's most scenic camping destinations, featuring 7 primitive walk-in campsites perched on coastal bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Located on a marine terrace along Highway 1, approximately one mile south of Stinson Beach, the campground sits within Mount Tamalpais State Park where mountain meets sea in spectacular fashion. The walk-in campsites offer unparalleled coastal views and are situated alongside the park's historic rustic cabins. Each campsite includes a picnic table and BBQ grill, with potable water and vault toilets available in the area. Visitors must park in the small parking lot and walk their gear to campsites; wheelbarrows are available to assist with gear transport. Site 7 is ADA accessible. The campground provides access to excellent hiking, including the beautiful Steep Ravine Trail on the other side of Highway 1. Due to high demand, reservations through ReserveCalifornia are strongly recommended and typically fill quickly. The location offers a rare opportunity to experience primitive camping with world-class ocean views in one of the Bay Area's most beloved parks.
