About
Sage Flat Campground offers 28 family campsites nestled in the forested area along Big Pine Creek, approximately 8 miles west of the town of Big Pine. At 7,400 feet elevation, the campground provides a pleasant base for exploring the Eastern Sierra and accessing nearby trails to Baker and Green Lakes. Most sites are shaded by conifers, though the campground is somewhat open with less vegetation screening between sites compared to other area campgrounds. This is an active bear area, and the Forest Service provides bearproof food storage containers at each site (48" x 30" x 36"). All food must be secured when unattended and overnight. Amenities include vault toilets, drinking water available from a hand pump, and picnic tables with fire pits at each site. The campground experiences heavy use during the summer season. Sage Flat operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. The nightly fee is $29 per site plus $10 for each additional vehicle. America the Beautiful Senior and Access Passes receive 50% discount on the campsite fee. Maximum stay is 14 days, and dogs must be leashed. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Directions
From Big Pine turn west on Crocker Street and continue 8 miles west. The campground will be on your left after entering the forested area.
