About
Saddle Campground is located in the Sacramento Mountains of Lincoln National Forest at an elevation of 8,900 feet. The campground sits within a stunning mixed conifer and aspen forest that provides southern New Mexico visitors a refreshing escape from summer desert temperatures. The area offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, hiking on interpretive trails, and enjoying the cool mountain environment. The campground features 16 single-unit sites spread across two loops (A and B), each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and parking spur. Vault toilets and potable water are available on-site, along with a central garbage depository for camper trash disposal. While there are no showers or dump stations at Saddle, both amenities are available nearby at Silver Overflow Campground. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 30 feet in length. Saddle operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. The campground typically opens in late May and closes in October, with exact dates subject to weather conditions. A 14-day stay limit applies. Campers should be aware that cell service is limited in this area and fire restrictions may be in effect during dry periods.
