Sleepy Grass Campground sits in the cool Sacramento Mountains of Lincoln National Forest, just 1.4 miles south of the village of Cloudcroft. At roughly 8,600 feet elevation, the campground provides relief from desert heat and offers access to hiking, mountain biking, and scenic drives through ponderosa pine and mixed conifer forest. The campground has 15 units consisting of 10 single sites, 2 double sites, and 3 triple sites. All sites are non-electric and suitable for tents, campers, and RVs up to 30 feet. Each site has a picnic table and access to vault toilets and potable water. Trash service is provided. Showers and an RV dump station are available at the nearby Silver Overflow recreation area for an additional fee. Sleepy Grass operates seasonally from mid-May through October, weather dependent. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov. The 14-day stay limit applies, and pets are welcome on a 6-foot leash. Stage 1 fire restrictions may be in effect during high fire danger periods, though campfires in designated fire structures at developed campgrounds remain permitted.
