About
Ryan Park Campground is located at 8,009 ft elevation on the Snowy Range Scenic Byway in the Medicine Bow National Forest, approximately 20 miles east of Saratoga, Wyoming. The campground sits beside Barrett Creek in a mountainous setting surrounded by evergreen trees and aspens that turn golden in fall. The facility offers 49 individual campsites, including 13 pull-through sites suitable for RVs, plus 1 group campsite that can accommodate up to 140 people.
All campsites feature picnic tables and fire grates. During the operating season, the campground provides vault toilets, potable water, and trash service. The maximum trailer length is 30 ft. Pets are allowed but must be kept on leashes no longer than 6 ft.
The site has historical significance as a former Civilian Conservation Corps prisoner of war camp from the 1930s. While little physical evidence remains, interpretive signs throughout the campground provide information about this history. Recreation opportunities include hiking, mountain biking, fishing in Barrett Creek, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing. The nearby Brush Creek Visitor Center is located 2.5 miles west and provides additional information on area recreation. Common wildlife sightings include black bear, elk, mule deer, moose, bobcat, and coyote.
