About
Bennett Peak Campground is a remote BLM campground situated on the banks of the North Platte River in Carbon County, Wyoming, at an elevation of 7,200 feet. This primitive, fee-based campground offers 11 first-come, first-served campsites, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring/grill, sandy tent pad, and parking space. The campground does not have pull-through sites. Amenities include a vault toilet, boat ramp, day use parking area, and bank fishing that is accessible to persons with disabilities. The hand pump water well is currently not operational, so visitors must bring adequate water supplies.
The campground is a popular destination for anglers and hunters. The North Platte River provides excellent opportunities for rainbow and brown trout fishing, while the surrounding Snowy Range area is home to abundant wildlife including bighorn sheep, mule deer, pronghorn, wild turkey, mountain lion, bald eagle, grouse, and rattlesnakes. Access to the campground requires navigating approximately 19 miles of gravel roads from the town of Riverside, making this a true backcountry experience for those seeking solitude and quality hunting and fishing opportunities in a scenic riverside setting.
