Ruffed Grouse Campground is a small, forested campground located along Eightmile Creek in the Methow Valley Ranger District of Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The campground sits at 3,100 feet elevation and is well-suited for small group camping experiences in a quiet, natural setting. The campground provides access to excellent hiking opportunities, including the challenging Copper Glance Trail #519. At the end of Eightmile Road, campers can access Hidden Lakes Trail #477 and Larch Creek Trail #502, both of which lead deep into the Pasayten Wilderness for more remote backcountry experiences. The nearby creek offers opportunities for fishing and enjoying the sounds of flowing water. Reached via West Chewuch Road and Forest Service Road 5130, the campground is located approximately 15 miles from Winthrop. Sites accommodate RVs and trailers up to 35 feet in length. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations, and payment can be made via the Recreation.gov Scan & Pay feature using a mobile device.

Directions

From Winthrop, travel 8 miles north on West Chewuch Road (County Road 1213) to Eightmile Road (Forest Service Road 5130). On Eightmile Road #5130 drive 7 miles northwest along Eightmile Creek to Ruffed Grouse Campground on the left.
