About

Chewuch Campground is a moderately-used Forest Service campground in the Methow Valley region of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Set in a forest of ponderosa pine at 2,300 feet elevation, the campground sits along the Chewuch River approximately 15 miles north of Winthrop, Washington. The campground offers standard non-electric sites accommodating tents and smaller RVs with a maximum vehicle length of 35 feet. Each site is limited to 2 tents or 1 RV and 1 tent, with a maximum stay of 14 consecutive days. Amenities include vault toilets, potable water from a hand pump, picnic tables, and trash receptacles. The surrounding area provides recreational opportunities including river fishing (Washington State regulations apply), walking, and cycling along forest roads. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with on-site payment via Recreation.gov's mobile Scan & Pay system. Interagency Senior and Access passes receive a 50% discount on single site fees.

Directions

From Winthrop, drive north on West Chewuch Road (County Road 1213) which becomes paved Forest Road 51. Continue 15 miles to Chewuch Campground on the right, along the Chewuch River.
