About

Chewuch Campground is located along the Chewuch River in the Methow Valley Ranger District of Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Set in a ponderosa pine forest at 2,300 feet elevation, the campground is accessed via paved Forest Road 51, 15 miles north of Winthrop. The campground provides a peaceful riverside setting with opportunities for fishing, road cycling along the Chewuch River valley roads, and exploring nearby trails. The facility offers 16 campsites on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Sites feature picnic tables and fire pits, and most can accommodate RVs or trailers up to 35 feet. Each site allows a maximum of 2 tents or 1 RV and 1 tent, with a 2-vehicle limit per site. Campers have access to potable drinking water from hand pumps, vault toilets, and trash receptacles. Payment can be made on-site via cash, check, or by scanning a QR code with the Recreation.gov mobile app. The campground operates seasonally from approximately May through October, with typical closure during winter months due to snow. The Methow Valley offers excellent recreational access to surrounding national forest lands, making this a popular base camp for exploring the North Cascades region.
