Round Lake State Park

About

Round Lake State Park encompasses 142 acres of forested beauty surrounding a 58-acre glacial lake in the northern panhandle of Idaho, just southwest of Sagle. The park provides a serene natural setting where towering pine, hemlock, and larch trees frame views of the pristine lake, home to rainbow trout, largemouth bass, and perch. Anglers fish to the chorus of bullfrogs, ducks, and red-winged blackbirds, while ospreys dive for their catches overhead. The campground offers 51 sites total: 35 standard campsites and 16 serviced sites with water and electric hookups. RV sites are back-in only and can accommodate rigs up to 24 feet. The park provides shaded camping areas with scenic lake views. Summer activities include swimming at the sandy beach, fishing, and non-motorized boating, with boat and kayak rentals available. Hiking trails wind through the forest where visitors may spot beavers, moose, and diverse bird species. Winter transforms Round Lake into a destination for cold-weather recreation. When conditions allow, the lake freezes for ice fishing and ice skating. Groomed trails provide excellent cross-country skiing and snowshoeing opportunities through the snowy forest. The park remains accessible year-round, though visitors should note that water systems are turned off during winter months and limited staff services are available.
