Green Bay Campground
Open seasonally from May through October. All 17 sites are reservable through Recreation.gov at $15 per night plus booking fees. No potable water is available; campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash.
About
Green Bay Campground sits on the forested bluffs overlooking Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho's largest and deepest lake. Located approximately 17 miles southeast of Sandpoint, this remote campground provides an ideal getaway for those seeking a quieter lakeside experience away from developed facilities. The campground was completely renovated in 2024 under the Great American Outdoors Act, expanding capacity and adding accessible sites. The 17 designated sites are divided between upper and lower loops, each equipped with a picnic table, tent pad, and fire ring. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. This is a pack-in, pack-out facility with no trash collection. The campground also features a swimming beach for cooling off in the lake. Access is limited to walk-in from the parking area or by boat on Pend Oreille Lake. Forest Service Road 2672 leading to the parking area is not suitable for motorhomes or trailers, making this campground best suited for tent campers or those arriving by watercraft.
Directions
From Garfield Bay, take the first road to the left past the Forest Service picnic area. Follow this road for about 3/4 mile. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 532. Take Road 532 about 1 mile to Green Bay Road 2672. Road 2672 is not suitable for motorhomes or trailers. Follow Road 2672 to the parking area for the campground. The campground is also accessible by boat on Pend Oreille Lake.
