About
East Bluff #1 Campground is a small, rustic campground located on the eastern bluffs overlooking Lake McClellan in the McClellan Creek National Grassland, managed by the Cibola National Forest. Situated at approximately 2,100 feet elevation in Gray County, Texas, the campground provides access to fishing, picnicking, and non-motorized boating when water levels permit. The campground features 12 camping units with picnic tables and grills at each site. Some sites offer electric hookups for RV campers. A vault toilet and dumpsters are provided, but campers must bring their own drinking water as no potable water is available on site. Payment is cash or check only at the self-service pay station. Lake McClellan is prone to drought and has dried up multiple times since 2000. Visitors should call the Black Kettle Ranger District at 580-497-2143 before planning a trip to confirm current water conditions.
