Rocky Springs Campground is located at milepost 54.8 on the southern section of the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi. This free primitive campground offers 22 sites available on a first-come first-served basis with no reservations accepted. The campground accommodates both tent campers and RVs up to 55 feet in length including tow vehicle, with a mix of pull-through and back-in sites. All vehicles must remain on pavement and there are no hookups available. The campground is part of a larger historic area that includes the ghost town of Rocky Springs, which was once a thriving cotton town before being abandoned due to the Civil War, yellow fever, and erosion. Campers can explore self-guided walking trails through the old town site, hike a section of the Old Natchez Trace, and visit the nearby Rocky Springs Methodist Church. The site includes an amphitheater, fire rings, picnic tables at each site, and trash collection. Water availability at Rocky Springs can be intermittent due to periodic issues with water lines, and flush toilets operate seasonally. Campers should plan to bring their own water and be self-contained. The campground is busiest during spring and fall, especially on holiday weekends. Maximum stay is 14 days per calendar year, and all standard Natchez Trace Parkway regulations apply including leashed pets only, campfires in designated rings only, and use of dead and down wood.
