About

Hunt Camp 80B is a primitive campsite located within Delta National Forest, Mississippi's only bottomland hardwood forest in the national forest system. The forest covers 60,898 acres in Sharkey County and is cooperatively managed as the Sunflower Wildlife Management Area. This designated hunter camp is one of 57 primitive sites scattered throughout the forest, designed specifically to accommodate hunters and outdoor enthusiasts exploring the unique Mississippi Delta ecosystem. The campsite provides basic amenities including a graveled parking pad, fire ring, lantern post, and picnic table. No services such as water, electricity, or restrooms are available on-site; potable water can be obtained at the Delta Work Center on Forest Service Road 703. The surrounding landscape features majestic bald cypress trees, bottomland hardwoods, and terrain crisscrossed by bayous, rivers, and lakes, offering excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, hunting, fishing, and experiencing one of the region's most distinctive natural environments. During hunting season, camping in the Sunflower WMA is restricted to designated hunter camps only, making advance reservations essential. The forest provides access to diverse recreational activities including ATV riding on designated trails, hiking, horseback riding, bird and butterfly watching, and paddling. Spring and fall bring outstanding birdwatching opportunities as migrating waterfowl and other species pass through the Delta.
