About
Rocky Creek Park sits on a wooded peninsula jutting into Somerville Lake, about 10 miles from the town of Somerville in Washington County, Texas. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates this year-round campground, which provides 192 campsites spread across three categories: 127 sites with 50-amp electric and water hookups, 30 sites with 30-amp electric and water hookups, and 35 tent-only sites with 30-amp electric and water. Large trees provide limited shade throughout the grounds, and pelicans and other waterfowl frequent the shoreline. Facilities include flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, and picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Two boat ramps provide direct lake access for fishing and water sports. Somerville Lake supports excellent fishing for crappie, catfish, white bass, hybrid-striped bass, and largemouth bass, with catches commonly reaching 10 pounds or more. A nature trail winds through the park, and a group picnic shelter is available by reservation. Nearby Yegua Creek Park offers additional lake access. Park gates are open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, with check-in at 3:00 PM and check-out at 2:00 PM. No more than two camping units and ten campers are permitted per site.
