Open — Open year-round with reservations available up to 5 months in advance. The boat ramp is currently closed due to low water levels. Periodic trail closures occur during hunting seasons from October through April. Park hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Lake Somerville State Park Nails Creek Unit sits on the southwestern shore of Lake Somerville, a 11,000-acre lake between Houston and Austin. This 300-acre unit is one of four components of the Lake Somerville complex and offers extensive recreational opportunities for campers, equestrians, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts. The campground features 46 sites including electric sites, equestrian electric sites, equestrian water-only sites, and primitive sites. All RV sites are paved, back-in only, with driveways ranging from 43 to 68 feet. Two main camping loops serve equestrians with horse facilities, while Cedar Creek Loop offers standard electric sites. Restrooms with hot showers, a dump station, and fish cleaning facilities serve campers. The park connects to the Birch Creek Unit via the 13.11-mile Lake Somerville Trailway, which offers multiuse trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Additional trails within the Nails Creek Unit provide nearly 40 miles of combined trail access throughout the complex. Anglers fish for hybrid bass, largemouth bass, white bass, crappie, and catfish from the shore or boat ramp. The park rents canoes and kayaks with paddles and life vests included. Swimming, boating, paddling, mountain biking, geocaching, and birding round out the activities available at this centrally-located Texas park.

From Houston: Take US 290 West through Brenham until you reach FM 180. Turn right on FM 180, follow it for 15 miles until it dead ends at the park. From Austin: Take US 290 East through Giddings until you reach FM 180. Turn left on FM 180, follow it for 15 miles until it dead ends at the park.
