About
Rock Quarry Group Campground offers a primitive group camping experience in the scenic Amistad National Recreation Area, located on the United States-Mexico border. The campground accommodates up to 35 people and features a large pavilion, vault toilet, campfire ring, pedestal grill, and table. This is a bring-your-own-water site, as no water is available on-site. Leashed pets are welcome. The campground is situated within 57,292 acres of federally owned land at the confluence of the Rio Grande, Devils, and Pecos Rivers. Visitors can enjoy excellent year-round water recreation including boating, fishing, swimming, scuba diving, and waterskiing on Lake Amistad, created by Amistad Dam in 1969. The recreation area is known for some of the best bass fishing in the American Southwest, with largemouth, smallmouth, and striped bass. Located just 15 miles northwest of Del Rio, Texas, the campground provides convenient access to town amenities while offering expansive views, dark night skies, and opportunities to explore ancient rock art sites. Boat rentals are available at Rough Canyon, 29 miles from the campground. Nearby attractions include Seminole Canyon State Park with world-class rock art viewing, Devils River State Natural Area, and Kickapoo Cavern State Park.
