About

White Pines Forest State Park preserves 385 acres of the southernmost native white pine forest in Illinois, located in the scenic Rock River valley near Mt. Morris. The park features over 100 shaded campsites across multiple camping areas, including Fox Canyon and Sunny Crest campgrounds. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table, and the campground has a centralized shower/flush toilet building. Two sites offer electric hookups and are reservable in advance. Pine Creek winds through the park, offering fishing opportunities with three wheelchair-accessible concrete fishing pads. Hikers can explore trails through the distinctive white pine stands and along moss-covered limestone bluffs. The park also features a historic 23-room lodge with a restaurant and dinner theater operated by a concessionaire. The campground is generally available without reservations except on holiday weekends. An alcohol ban is in effect year-round in the campground, and campers must purchase firewood locally due to Emerald Ash Borer quarantine restrictions.
