About
Rock Creek Campground is nestled in a grove of large spruce and Douglas fir trees along Rock Creek, just off the Pacific Coast of Oregon in the Siuslaw National Forest. The campground's 13 single-family sites are situated in a lush coastal rainforest environment where mosses drape the branches and ferns cover the forest floor, lending a true rainforest appearance. The beach and day-use parking area can be accessed within a half-mile from the campground, providing opportunities to view awe-inspiring Pacific sunsets and wildlife including pelicans, shorebirds, sea lions, and migrating whales. Rock Creek offers excellent birding and fishing opportunities, with anglers casting for cutthroat trout and salmon. The nearby Rock Creek Wilderness Area encompasses about 7,500 acres of dense coniferous rainforest, where bigleaf maple and red alder trees line the creeks and rhododendrons dot the forest floor. The Cape Perpetua Visitor Center is located a few miles north, offering phenomenal ocean views, short films, and whale watching opportunities in March. Visitors also enjoy exploring tide pools at Cape Perpetua and hiking along the 23-mile trail system that leads through dense old-growth forests to rocky coastal overlooks.
