About

Rock Creek Group Camp is a primitive group campsite located at the entrance to Rock Creek Campground in Chickasaw National Recreation Area. This family-friendly site accommodates up to 30 people and is designed primarily for tent camping, though small RVs can be accommodated. The group site is the closest campground to Veterans Lake and serves as an ideal basecamp for fishing, hiking, birdwatching, and swimming. The campground sits in a unique ecological zone where the eastern deciduous forest meets the western mixed-grass prairie, creating the Crosstimbers landscape. This convergence attracts diverse wildlife including red fox, turkey, deer, and opossum. Swimming opportunities abound throughout the recreation area, with streams and springs dotting the landscape. Nearby hiking trails weave along these streams, passing through cool rushing waterfalls and leading to both mineral water and freshwater springs. Facilities include flush toilets, fire rings with grates, and access to Rock Creek. No showers or electrical hookups are available. The regular campsites at Rock Creek Campground operate on a first-come, first-served basis, while the group site requires advance reservations through Recreation.gov.
