About

Central Group Camp is a family-friendly primitive group campground situated in the historic Platt District of Chickasaw National Recreation Area, just minutes from downtown Sulphur. The campground features 10 group sites arranged in a loop around a large open field perfect for volleyball, football, horseshoes, and other group activities. Each site is equipped with picnic tables and grills, with water spigots conveniently located throughout the campground. Flush toilets are available, though there are no shower facilities or electric hookups. The campground's location provides easy access to some of the park's best attractions. A short walk takes visitors to Panther Falls, a refreshing spring-fed swimming area on Travertine Creek. Nearby hiking trails meander along streams, past waterfalls, and connect to mineral and freshwater springs. Little Niagara, a popular swimming hole, is also close by, as are the Travertine Nature Center and the park's bison pasture. The springs and streams in this area originate within a region characterized by complex geology, with intense faulting, folding, and erosion creating a landscape of gently rolling hills dissected by waterways.
