About
Cold Springs Campground is a historic tent-only campground located within Chickasaw National Recreation Area, approximately 5-7 minutes from the town of Sulphur, Oklahoma. Originally rebuilt in the 1930s to its current configuration, the campground features 65 sites nestled in mature oak and hickory forests. The campground sits directly across from Travertine Creek, a popular spring-fed waterway with multiple swimming areas that provide refreshing escapes during summer months. The campground is reservation-only and primarily designed for tent camping, though small pop-up or teardrop trailers may fit in parking spaces at select campsites. Modern amenities include two restroom buildings with flush toilets and sinks, though no showers are available. Water is available seasonally. The campground operates with a seasonal host and provides trash collection during peak season. Nearby attractions include the Travertine Nature Center, Little Niagara waterfall, and several hiking trails including the scenic Antelope and Buffalo Springs Trail. The area features cold spring-fed waterfalls and striking geologic formations. Alcohol is prohibited from May 1 through September 30. Parking is extremely limited with no overflow available, and marijuana use is prohibited throughout the recreation area.
