About

Cold Springs Campground occupies a scenic location within the historic eastern section of Chickasaw National Recreation Area, formerly known as Platt National Park. The tent-only campground is nestled in mature oak and hickory forests and sits directly across from Travertine Creek, one of the park's premier attractions. The creek is fed by cold, clear waters from nearby Antelope and Buffalo Springs, creating natural swimming areas that provide refreshing relief during Oklahoma summers. The campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the area's natural and cultural features. Bear Falls, Garfield Falls, and Panther Falls are popular swimming destinations along Travertine Creek. The Antelope and Buffalo Springs Trail, a scenic 1-mile loop behind the Travertine Nature Center, offers easy hiking through the spring-fed landscape. Additional trails include the Travertine Creek Trail and the Bison Pasture Trail. The area's complex geology, featuring intensive faulting and folding, has created distinctive rock formations and the cold springs that define this landscape. Cold Springs features over 60 tent-only sites plus group camping options. Two restroom buildings with flush toilets and sinks serve the campground, though no showers are available. The campground is conveniently located just minutes from the town of Sulphur, making it accessible for both first-time campers and experienced outdoors enthusiasts. Parking is limited to two vehicles per site with no overflow parking available. Alcohol is prohibited from May 1 through September 30 each year.
