Robinson Mountain Lookout
Robinson Mountain Lookout is not currently listed on Recreation.gov for reservations. The site may be available for use without fees, but current accessibility is uncertain due to seasonal road conditions at high elevation. Access requires a nearly 2-mile hike after navigating remote forest roads.

About
Built in 1929, Robinson Mountain Lookout is a compact 12x14 foot shake and frame cabin that served as a fire lookout until it was abandoned in 1948. The structure survived and was restored in 1983 as part of the Kootenai National Forest cabin rental program. At 7,539 feet elevation and located just a few miles south of the Canadian border, the lookout offers sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. Access is challenging. From Eureka, the route follows Highway 93 N, then Highway 37, crosses the Koocanusa bridge, and continues on forest roads including the Yaak 92, West Kootenai Road 474, and Dodge Summit Road 470. After driving Road 7205, visitors must hike nearly 2 miles on a gated road to reach the trailhead. The high elevation and remote location meant the lookout was often fogged in during its operational years. This is a primitive facility with no potable water, no restrooms, and no other amenities. Visitors must be fully self-sufficient and prepared for changing mountain weather conditions.
Directions
From Eureka, follow Hwy 93 N for 1.5 miles. Turn left on Hwy 37 and follow for 13 miles. Turn right on the Koocanusa bridge, then right on Yaak 92 and follow for 4 miles. Continue north on West Kootenai Road 474 for 2.1 miles. Turn left on Dodge Summit Road 470 and follow for 8.2 miles to NF Dodge Road 7205. Follow Road 7205 for 3.46 miles to gated Road 999. Hike 1.94 miles to trailhead #59.
