About

Good/Knife Trailhead Dispersed Site is a primitive camping area situated between Good Creek and Knife Gulch in the Big Creek drainage of Kootenai National Forest. The site provides access to Knife Point Trail (542), a moderate 2.5-mile trail that parallels Knife Gulch before switchbacking up a steep ridge to Boulder Creek Road. As a dispersed site, campers should expect no developed amenities. Standard Leave No Trace practices apply, and campers must pack out all trash. The surrounding area offers opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and nature study in a remote setting near Lake Koocanusa. The site is managed by the Rexford Ranger District. Montana National Forests enforce a 16 consecutive day stay limit with no more than 32 cumulative days per calendar year. Food storage orders are in effect in the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem, requiring proper storage of attractants.
