Gateway Boat Camp offers a secluded camping experience on Koocanusa Reservoir in the Kootenai National Forest, approximately 8.5 air miles from Eureka, Montana. Situated just 0.18 miles from the Canadian border, this remote campground provides 5 primitive sites accessible primarily by motorized boat or hiking trail. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground has a pit toilet and hitching rack but no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. This is a pack-in, pack-out facility with no trash service. The area supports lake and pond fishing as well as motorized boating. The campground is managed from Memorial Day through Labor Day but remains accessible year-round, weather and access conditions permitting. All sites are first-come, first-served with no fee and a 14-day stay limit. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash.

Directions

Located approximately 8.5 air miles from Eureka on Lake Koocanusa, 0.18 miles from the Canadian border. Primary access is by boat (must be beached). Trail access is available by foot or horseback. No road access.
