About
Kamloops Terrace Campground sits on an arm of Lake Koocanusa, a 46,500-acre reservoir formed by the 422-foot Libby Dam on the Kootenai River. The lake stretches about 90 miles with over 127 miles of shoreline, extending into Canada. The campground is part of the larger Rexford Bench Recreation Area, the most developed camping complex in the Kootenai National Forest. The 20-site campground features paved roads and parking surfaces, flush toilets, potable drinking water, and each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. No utility hookups are available. Overflow parking for extra vehicles is also located at Kamloops Terrace at no additional fee. Fishing derbies are held several times each year, with anglers targeting kokanee salmon, whitefish, and various trout species. A variety of hiking trails begin in the campground area, including a short interpretive loop trail and the Hoodoo Trail leading to impressive sandstone formations. Beach access and boat ramps are available in the broader Rexford Bench complex.
