About

Riverside Campground is situated on the wooded banks of the Smoky Hill River, just downstream from Kanopolis Lake in central Kansas, about 30 miles southwest of Salina. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the campground provides a blend of developed amenities and natural riverside scenery. Wildlife is abundant along the river corridor, with frequent sightings of whitetail deer, Great Blue Heron, quail, turkey, rabbits, squirrels, and various waterfowl. The campground features 24 sites total: 16 sites with 30-amp electric and water hookups, and 8 primitive tent sites. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 45 feet. Facilities include flush toilets, drinking water, hot showers, an RV dump station, and a playground. A 9-hole disc golf course connects to the campground. Note that sites 1-9 back up to a steep riverbank and may pose a hazard for unattended children. Kanopolis Lake, one of Kansas's oldest lakes, offers excellent boating and fishing opportunities. Nearby Kanopolis State Park provides additional trails for hiking, biking, and equestrian activities. The Fort Harker Museum in Kanopolis and the Rogers Art Gallery and Museum in Ellsworth offer cultural attractions showcasing the settlement of the American West.
