About

The State Fair Cabin sits on the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, a sprawling facility best known for hosting the annual Kansas State Fair each September. Operated by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP), this modern cabin provides a comfortable base for exploring south-central Kansas year-round. The cabin accommodates up to five guests with a double bed, futon, and pull-down Murphy-style bed. A fully equipped kitchen includes a refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee pot, dishes, cookware, and dining table with chairs. Climate control via thermostat keeps the cabin comfortable in any season. Bathroom facilities are provided on-site, though guests must bring their own towels, soap, and shampoo, as well as full-size sheets and pillows for the beds. Reservations are made through the KDWP reservation system. Check-in is after 2 p.m. and check-out is at noon. Note that no television, internet, or telephone hookups are available. The surrounding fairgrounds offer extensive facilities when events are in session, and the city of Hutchinson provides nearby dining, shopping, and attractions including the Cosmosphere space museum.
