About

Lucas Park Campground is located on the north side of Wilson Lake in the wide open spaces of central Kansas's Smoky Hills. The campground offers 98 modern campsites, including a large group site with 15 campsites and a group shelter. Most sites feature electric and water hookups, with some non-electric tent sites available. Campsites provide sweeping views of Wilson Lake, known as the clearest lake in Kansas. Wilson Lake is a premier destination for boating, water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and sailing on its clear blue waters. The lake is renowned for excellent fishing, with abundant populations of walleye, largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, striped bass, and channel and flathead catfish. The campground provides direct access to a boat ramp and fishing dock. The Rocktown Hiking Trail, a 3-mile loop located within Lucas Park, winds through a 305-acre wildlife area featuring massive red sandstone rock formations rising 15 to 30 feet above the ground. The formations create a natural skyline that gives the trail its name. Additional hiking is available at the nearby Bur Oak Nature Trail. The surrounding Post Rock Country landscape features rolling hills, buttes, and unique limestone formations that have been used for fenceposts and buildings throughout the region.
