About

Wilson State Park encompasses 945 acres along the southern shoreline of Wilson Reservoir, a 9,000-acre Army Corps of Engineers lake known for clear water and excellent fishing. The park divides into two distinct areas: Hell Creek on the east side and Otoe on the west. Each contains multiple camping loops with different amenity levels. Hell Creek's campgrounds include Big Bluestem, Wheatgrass, Grama, Foxtail, and Dakota. Big Bluestem features an outer loop with pull-through sites facing the water and an inner loop with back-in sites; some spots have concrete pads with 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections. Wheatgrass and Grama offer electric and water hookups, while primitive sites are scattered throughout. Otoe's Sunflower and Coneflower loops provide additional hookup and primitive options. Shower buildings and pressurized water systems operate April through September; frost-free hydrants and vault toilets remain available year-round. Three dump stations serve RV campers (two in Hell Creek, one in Otoe). The park's location in the Smoky Hills provides rugged bluffs, sandstone outcrops, and access to hiking trails including the accessible Cedar Trail. Wilson Lake Marina offers boat rentals, fuel, and a tackle shop.
