About
Minooka Park Campground is located on the south side of Wilson Lake in the wide open spaces of central Kansas. Named for the Otoe Indian word meaning "Good Earth," this Army Corps of Engineers park offers 159 reservable modern campsites with scenic lake views and excellent shoreline access. The campground includes both electric and non-electric sites spread across multiple loops, plus a 12-site group camp area and large group picnic shelter accommodating up to 50 guests. Wilson Lake, known as the "clearest lake in Kansas," sits in the Smoky Hills of North Central Kansas, a rolling landscape of hills, buttes, and hazy valleys. The area is also called Post Rock Country for its thousands of miles of stone fenceposts and buildings constructed from local limestone. This unique geologic setting provides an excellent backdrop for recreation. The lake offers outstanding boating opportunities with ample room for water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and sailing. The high salinity content of the Saline River supports stocked ocean-native striped bass that reach enormous sizes. The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism stocks walleye, largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, striped bass, and channel and flathead catfish. The park features a swimming beach, boat ramp, playground, sand volleyball court, and hiking trails including the Prairie Fire Trail, a self-guided interpretive path. Hunting opportunities exist for pheasant, quail, prairie chicken, whitetail deer, turkey, waterfowl, and rabbit.

From Interstate 70 north of Wilson, Kansas, take exit 199 and turn north on Dorrance Road. Continue for 7 miles and follow signs to the campground.
