Minooka Park Campground is located on the south side of Wilson Lake in the Smoky Hills region of central Kansas. Named for the Otoe Indian word meaning "Good Earth," this U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility offers 159 modern campsites with electric hookups ranging from 30 to 50 amps, plus water connections at sites. The campground also features a 12-site group camping area and a large group picnic shelter accommodating up to 50 guests. Wilson Lake is renowned as the clearest lake in Kansas, with its distinctive high-salinity waters from the Saline River creating ideal conditions for ocean-native striped bass that grow to impressive sizes. Anglers also find abundant walleye, largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, and channel catfish. Beyond fishing, the lake offers excellent boating conditions for water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and sailing. The campground provides a swimming beach, playground, sand volleyball court, boat ramp with day-use permits available at self-pay stations, and a fish cleaning station. Several hiking trails are accessible from the park, including the Prairie Fire Trail, a self-guided interpretive route through the mixed-grass prairie and Post Rock Country landscape characterized by limestone fenceposts and distinctive geological formations.

Directions

From Interstate 70, north of Wilson, Kansas, take exit 199 and turn north on Dorrance Road. Continue for 7 miles and follow signs to the campground.
