About

River Island State Park sits on the banks of the Colorado River in the Sonoran Desert near Parker, Arizona. The 37-site campground caters to both tent campers and RVers, with 8 grass beachfront sites overlooking the river (20-amp/water, max 24 feet) and 29 larger sites with 20/30/50-amp service and water hookups. Nineteen of the standard sites are pull-throughs accommodating RVs up to 65 feet deep, while 10 are back-ins. The park provides solid amenities for its location: two ADA-accessible restroom/shower buildings, a dump station near the ranger station, fire rings and picnic tables at each site, and a covered ramada. A three-lane boat launch offers direct access to the Colorado River, making this a hub for boating, jet skiing, waterskiing, and fishing. A sandy beach and cove provide swimming areas. Beyond water activities, the park has a hiking trail and connects to off-highway vehicle routes for desert exploration. River Island Market sits a quarter mile outside the park entrance for groceries, fuel, and supplies. The mild winter climate draws snowbirds, while summer brings peak water recreation season.
