About

Right Bank Recreation Area, also known as Cheatham Dam, offers a relaxing day-use recreation experience along two miles of Cheatham Lake shoreline on the Cumberland River. Located 11 miles northwest of Ashland City and just 30 minutes from Nashville, the area is surrounded by beautiful old trees that provide shade throughout the park. The facility features five group shelters available for reservation: Cottonwood (4 tables), Willey's (7 tables), Sycamore Creek (8 tables), Red Bud (12 tables), and Beachside (16 tables). All shelters include BBQ grills, water, and garbage service, while Red Bud and Willey's have fire pits. Recreation amenities include a designated swimming beach (no lifeguard), two boat launching ramps, multiple playgrounds, horseshoe pits, two volleyball courts, a softball field, and numerous individual picnic tables with grills. A day-use fee of $5.00 per vehicle is charged between Memorial Day and Labor Day. While Right Bank is a day-use area, camping is available at the adjacent Lock A Campground. The temperate climate allows for an extended recreation season for boating, canoeing, swimming, and fishing.
