About
Lock A Campground is a well-equipped Army Corps of Engineers facility located on the north bank of Cheatham Lake along the Cumberland River in north-central Tennessee, just upstream from Cheatham Lock and Dam. The campground features 45 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents, all equipped with 50 amp electric hookups. The facility provides modern amenities including hot showers, a dump station, and flush toilets. The campground offers extensive recreational opportunities due to its location on Cheatham Lake. A boat launch is available for campers, providing direct access to excellent boating, fishing, canoeing, and swimming opportunities on the Cumberland River. On-site amenities include horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, a playground, picnic shelter, and a swimming area. The adjacent Cheatham Dam Right Bank Recreation Area provides an additional beach and playgrounds. For hikers, the Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail is accessible from the campground. This rails-to-trails project runs 6.5 miles and features a historic abandoned railroad trestle crossing Sycamore Creek. The temperate climate allows for a lengthy recreation season. Nearby attractions include the Pardue Pond and Dyson Ditch Wildlife Refuges across the lake, both excellent for bird watching and exploring. The campground operates on a reservation-only basis through Recreation.gov.
