Open

Open year-round, first-come, first-served. No reservations. Abbott Road and the campground reopened in January 2026 after storm damage repairs. The campground fills on spring and fall weekends.

About

Ricardo Campground occupies a dramatic setting at the base of the White House Cliffs in Red Rock Canyon State Park, 25 miles northeast of Mojave off Highway 14. The surrounding landscape showcases millions of years of geological history, with colorful sedimentary layers and erosion-sculpted sandstone formations that have served as backdrops for numerous films and commercials. The campground offers 50 primitive sites, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Potable water and pit toilets are available, but there are no showers, hookups, or dump station. RVs and trailers are limited to 30 feet. Four ADA-accessible sites are available, with sites 1 and 2 featuring shade ramadas over the tables. Beyond the campground, visitors can explore miles of primitive trails and roads for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The park's visitor center sells firewood and provides interpretive information about the area's geology, ecology, and human history. Quiet hours run from 10 PM to 6 AM, with generators prohibited from 8 PM to 10 AM.
