About
Reedy Creek Campground is located within the Arbuckle tract of Lake Wales Ridge State Forest in Polk County, Florida, situated on the narrow Lake Wales Ridge that runs through the Florida Peninsula. This ridge was once an ancient island where unique plants and animals evolved in isolation, creating a scrub ecosystem with one of the highest concentrations of rare and endangered plants in the continental United States. The campground offers 8 primitive campsites requiring advance reservations through ReserveAmerica. Sites 1-5 are tent-only, while sites 6-8 accommodate RVs or tents with 15-foot back-in driveways. Sites 2-4 require parking at designated areas across from the campsites. Each site features a picnic table and fire ring, with two portable toilets and a dumpster serving the campground. A day-use pavilion is also available by reservation. Recreational opportunities abound with 25 miles of the Arbuckle Trail for hiking, along with fishing, hunting, bicycling, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing. The forest is part of the Arbuckle Wildlife Management Area, and wearing Day-Glo orange is recommended during hunting seasons. Black bears and raccoons frequent the area, requiring proper food storage. The campground enforces quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM and follows Leave No Trace principles.
