Redbud Campground

Closed — Open from the first Friday in March through the first Monday in December. Check-in is 4 p.m. and checkout is 1 p.m. A burn ban is in effect from midnight to 4 p.m. between February 15 and April 30 unless a Camp Host is in residence.

Special Weather Statement issued March 23 at 8:34AM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA

8:34 AM — 7:00 PM

The combination of dry fine fuels, relative humidities between 20 and 30 percent, northwest wind gusts in excess of 20 mph, and warm temperatures will lead to an increased risk for the rapid spread of wildfires this afternoon. Residents and visitors are urged to properly dispose of cigarette butts, matches, and any other flammable items in appropriate containers. Additionally, exercise caution if operating any equipment that could create sparks and keep vehicles off of dry grass. Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly. Lastly, remember to obey local burn bans. For more information about wildfire danger, burn restrictions, and wildfire prevention and education, please visit your state forestry or environmental protection website. Virginia residents are reminded that open burning is prohibited before 4 PM each day through April 30th.

About

Redbud Campground at Holliday Lake State Park is one of two campgrounds in this 560-acre park nestled deep within the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest. The campground offers 29 drive-in sites designed for tents, trailers, conversion vans, and pop-ups up to 30 feet in length. All sites are site-specific reservations with 20 and 30-amp electric hookups and water connections. Each site features a fire ring with an adjustable cooking grate, picnic table, and lantern post, with parking for two vehicles included. The campground provides access to a bathhouse with hot showers and accessible facilities. Campers can enjoy the 119-acre Holliday Lake with unguarded swimming at the beach, fishing for largemouth bass, crappie and bluegill, and boat rentals including canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards. The park features excellent hiking including a 6.5-mile Lakeshore Trail loop around the entire lake, plus the Dogwood Loop and S-Curve Trail starting from Redbud Campground. The park is located just minutes from Appomattox Court House National Historical Park. Firewood is available for purchase at the park, and guests are prohibited from bringing outside firewood due to forest infestation risks.
