Red Dirt Reservoir Campground is located in the Gore Pass area of the Routt National Forest in Grand County, Colorado, approximately 20 miles west of Kremmling and 40 miles east of Yampa. Accessed via Forest Development Roads 100 and 101 off Highway 134, this dispersed camping area sits at the reservoir and is managed by the Yampa Ranger District. The area was significantly impacted by the 2018 Silver Creek Fire, and the burn scar remains visible throughout the landscape. Visitors must exercise extreme caution regarding snags and should never camp under dead or burned trees. Despite the fire damage, the area continues to offer quality recreational opportunities including rainbow trout fishing in the reservoir, hiking, mountain biking, and scenic viewing. This is a primitive dispersed camping area with minimal facilities. One vault toilet is available, but there is no potable water and no trash service, so visitors must pack out all waste. The site offers no designated campsites or pull-through areas, which can make maneuvering with trailers difficult, particularly during periods of heavy use. The area is free to camp and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system.

From Yampa: Travel south on Highway 131 approximately 11 miles to Highway 134. Go east on Highway 134 approximately 20 miles to Forest Development Road 100. Go north on FDR 100 about 8 miles to FDR 101. Go north on FDR 101 about 2 miles to Red Dirt Reservoir.
