About

Dumont Lake Campground is a high-elevation destination at 9,500 ft in the Routt National Forest, located just off U.S. Highway 40 on Rabbit Ears Pass between Steamboat Springs and Kremmling. The 22 campsites are spacious and private, with most offering views of the surrounding alpine meadow. A mix of pull-through and back-in sites accommodates various camping setups, and each site includes a fire grate and picnic table. The 50-acre Dumont Lake sits within a spruce-fir forest that bursts with wildflowers in warmer months. Fishing opportunities include spin and fly fishing for trout in both the lake and nearby streams. The lake is restricted to electric motors or hand-propelled boats only. The two-mile Rabbit Ears Trail is accessible from the campground, and the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail passes nearby. Three vault toilets serve the campground. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. The area offers outstanding wildlife viewing and sits atop the Park Range with spectacular views of several Colorado mountain ranges. The 14-day camping limit applies within any 30-day period.
