About
The Brush Creek Work Center Barracks is a converted USFS employee housing facility available for winter recreation rentals. This all-electric bi-level house was built in 1981 and underwent extensive renovation in 2023. The facility includes four bedrooms with two twin beds each, a small living room, large kitchen/dining area, and two bathrooms with showers. The kitchen is modern with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, and basic utensils provided. Located at 8,100 feet elevation in the Snowy Range, the barracks provides access to over 300 miles of snowmobile trails and the Brush Creek Cross-Country Ski Trails. Early autumn snow typically begins accumulating by Halloween. Highway 130 closes in winter with a closure gate 8 miles away. The parking area is plowed but walkways are not shoveled. Guests must bring their own sleeping bags, pillows, towels, dish soap, toilet paper, garbage bags, and emergency light sources. All trash and food must be packed out. The facility is non-smoking and no pets or livestock are permitted. Contact the ranger district before arrival for key pickup location and current road/weather conditions.
Directions
From Saratoga, WY, drive south 8 miles on Highway 130 to the junction with Highway 230. Turn east on Highway 130 and continue 12 miles to the Brush Creek Work Center. The barracks is the third building on the right.
