About

Sunset SB Group Campground offers a group camping experience at Sunset State Beach, situated between Santa Cruz and Monterey along a secluded stretch of California coastline. The campground is set among Monterey pines with mountainous sand dunes separating the sites from the Pacific Ocean. Large agricultural fields border the park to the east, creating a peaceful buffer from urban development. The group site can host between 9 and 50 campers with space for up to 10 vehicles at $335 per night. Facilities include restrooms with pay showers (quarters required), drinking water, and fire rings for campfires. The campground operates on a reservation-only basis from mid-March through October, remaining closed when not reserved. Beach access is via trails through the dunes, though swimmers should be aware of dangerous rip currents, cold water, and steep offshore dropoffs. Dogs are permitted in the campground on a 6-foot leash but are prohibited on the beach itself due to environmentally sensitive areas. No RV hookups are available, and the maximum RV/trailer length is 31 feet. A dump station is available at nearby New Brighton State Beach for registered campers.

Directions

From Highway 1, take the San Andreas Road exit. Proceed south to Sunset Beach Road, then head west to the beach entrance at 201 Sunset Beach Road, Watsonville.
