Ramada Day Use Area

Open — The day-use area is currently open and available for reservations via ReserveCalifornia. Park hours are sunrise to one hour after sunset. The gate closes one hour after sunset and reopens at sunrise.

About

The Ramadas Day Use Area is a group picnic facility located within Brannan Island State Recreation Area in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, positioned on Highway 160 south of Rio Vista. This day-use area features multiple shaded picnic structures (ramadas) equipped with large barbecue facilities, picnic tables, drinking water, and trash receptacles. A large open grassy field adjacent to the ramadas provides ample space for lawn games and group activities. Brannan Island State Recreation Area serves as a gateway to over 1,000 miles of navigable waterways in the Delta, offering access to excellent fishing for striped bass, sturgeon, catfish, and other species. The park is surrounded by the Sacramento River and Three Mile and Seven Mile Sloughs, providing opportunities for boating, windsurfing, and swimming. The nearby Little Frank's Tract is a protected wetland marsh home to beaver, muskrat, river otter, mink, and 76 species of birds. The climate in the Delta is mild, with winter temperatures ranging between 45 and 55 degrees and summer temperatures between 75 and 95 degrees. The park receives heavy use from May through October, while late fall, winter, and early spring months offer a slower pace and excellent fishing opportunities. Dogs are allowed in the Ramadas area but must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet.

Directions

Located on Highway 160 a few miles south of Rio Vista in Sacramento County. The park is on the lower peninsular extension of Brannan Island, surrounded by the Sacramento River on the west, Three Mile Slough on the southeast, and Seven Mile Slough on the northeast.
