Brannan Island State Recreation Area's boat berthing basin offers walk-in campsites positioned near the water's edge in one of the world's premier water recreation areas. Located in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta between the Sacramento River and Seven Mile Slough, the berthing area provides direct access to over 1,000 miles of navigable waterways. The park features a ten-lane boat launch ramp and serves as a gateway to exceptional Delta fishing for striped bass, sturgeon, catfish, bluegill, and more. Campsites in the berthing area come equipped with fire rings and picnic tables, with ample lawn space for tents. Restroom facilities with flush toilets and coin-operated showers are available nearby. The location is ideal for boaters seeking convenient overnight moorage while exploring the Delta's countless islands and marshes. The park receives heavy use from May through October, while late fall, winter, and early spring months offer quieter camping and some of the best fishing opportunities of the year. The Delta's mild climate features winter temperatures between 45-55°F and summer temperatures between 75-95°F, though the Delta breeze provides relief during occasional heat waves. Park hours run from sunrise to one hour after sunset, with gate closures overnight. The park is located on Highway 160 a few miles south of Rio Vista in Sacramento County, providing convenient access from both the Bay Area and Sacramento.

The park is on the lower peninsular extension of Brannan Island, surrounded by the Sacramento River on the west, Three Mile Slough on the southeast, and Seven Mile Slough on the northeast.
