About

Brannan Island State Recreation Area sits at the gateway to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, one of the world's premier water recreation areas. The campground features 102 family campsites spread across two loops (Cottonwood and Willow), 13 RV sites with full hookups, walk-in sites near the boat berthing basin, and 6 group campsites. Surrounded by the Sacramento River, Three Mile Slough, and Seven Mile Slough, the park offers direct access to over 1,000 miles of navigable waterways. The Delta provides exceptional year-round fishing opportunities for striped bass, black bass, sturgeon, catfish, bluegill, perch, and bullhead. The park features a 10-lane boat launch, swimming beaches, and day use areas including the Ramadas group picnic facility and Seven Mile Slough beach. Little Frank's Tract, a nearby protected wetland marsh, is home to beaver, muskrat, river otter, mink, and 76 bird species. The climate is mild with winter temperatures of 45-55°F and summer temperatures of 75-95°F, though the Delta breeze provides relief during occasional heat waves. Peak season runs May through October, while late fall through early spring offers quieter camping and excellent fishing.

Directions

Located on Highway 160 a few miles south of Rio Vista in Sacramento County. The park is on the lower peninsular extension of Brannan Island, surrounded by the Sacramento River on the west, Three Mile Slough on the southeast, and Seven Mile Slough on the northeast.
