Light to periodically moderate rain is expected for the lower Stehekin Valley this week along with melting snow as temperatures warm into the 40s and 50s. Flows in rivers will increase quickly and reach critical levels. * WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues for the lower Stehekin Valley. * WHERE...A portion of North Central Washington, including the following county, Chelan. * WHEN...Until 1100 PM PDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...When the Stehekin River gauge hits 19.3 feet, water breaches the river bank. At 20 feet, water inundates some properties and overtops the temporary corduroy bridge. Company Creek Road begins to flood in places at the northern end and Battalion Creek culverts are beginning to be overtopped. At 20.5 feet, water begins to damage Wood Road. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 924 PM PDT, the Stehekin River is at 19.9 feet. Rainy Creek Campground is a small, primitive Forest Service campground located in the Wenatchee River Ranger District of Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Situated at 2,100 feet elevation along Rainy Creek, this lightly-used campground provides a quiet retreat approximately 10 miles from Lake Wenatchee. The campground offers basic amenities including vault toilets and picnic tables, but campers must bring their own water as no potable water is available on-site. Access to the campground requires traveling west from Leavenworth on Highway 2, then north on Highway 207 and Little Wenatchee River Road before turning onto Forest Road 6701 (Rainy Creek Road). The campground can accommodate trailers up to 30 feet and charges $10 per night for single sites with an additional $5 fee per extra vehicle. Interagency Senior and Access Pass holders receive a 50% discount on campsite fees. The campground operates seasonally, typically closing in fall due to snow and weather conditions at this elevation.
Directions
From Leavenworth, travel west on Highway 2 for 15.1 miles. At Coles Corner, turn right onto Highway 207 N and travel 10.5 miles. Continue onto Little Wenatchee River Road for 6.1 miles. Turn left on Forest Road 6701 (Rainy Creek Road) and go about 1 mile to the campground on the right.
